AIM:To promote the interests and safe guard the welfare of our members.
We do the following:
- Welcome in September new retirees at the “No Bell Brunch.”
- Provide four luncheons in November, January, February, March and May to enjoy speakers and entertainers.
- November, hold a ‘Silent Auction Luncheon’ to raise money for the Scholarship Fund
- One luncheon during the year will honour new life time members.
- The May luncheon is the AGM.
- Establish services for retired teachers: “Let’s Go Group”
- Establish a bank of volunteer activities other LRTA members enjoy (see Volunteering on web site).
- Promote community activities and centres by having information about programs offered.
- Provide information about COSCO workshops which are offered free of charge.
- Encourage LRTA members to join a BCRTA Committee.
- Sponsor the BCRTA workshop “There is more to it than Money”. This is a preparatory workshop about life after retirement.
Other activities to consider
- Provide opportunities for club type activities, outings or trips. Examples: Bridge group, walking group, etc
- Establish services for retired teachers, such as computer learning groups.
- Promote the BCRTA’s ‘Golden Star Awards” program.
