2018 Winter/Spring Gluu Sessions

Hi Everyone;
Happy New Year!  I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday season, and managed to stay healthy.  

I realize that this is a long e-mail, but I wanted to let you know of all of the upcoming Gluu sessions that will be available from February to May.  I have attached Gluu sessions 'at-a-glance' pdf, so you can have a quick look at what we are offering.  The following has details about each of the different classes. So here, goes...

We are starting up new Gluu sessions in February.  As well, there will be two different levels presented.  Both levels will run back-to-back on Wednesdays -- Back To Basics (10:00-11:00 AM) and Topic Specific (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM)

PRICE
$100 for Gluu Season's Pass to all 8 classes
SAVE $20 and sit in on the other classes, space permitting

$15 per single class
*prices do not include GST

BACK TO BASICS
This Series is for beginners who know where the Home Button is & for those refreshing their skills. We move the content along at a more relaxed pace. The key to making this stuff stick is repetition. Many people take these classes more than once. This Series consists 8 classes that cover the basics -- every other week until the end of May.

1. TEXTING BASICS
Wednesday, February 14 / 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Texting is so important. We will go over the fundamentals, explain jargon and show you how easy it is. You might even get into emojis, too!

2. CONTACTS APP BASICS
Wednesday, February 28 / 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Add your most important people to your Contacts App, and use Siri to make it even easier to stay in touch. We will also set up In Case of Emergency (iPhone users), and show you why this is one of our fav apps.

3. CALENDAR APP BASICS
Wednesday, March 7 / 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Complement your paper calendar with this powerful app. Learn to use the Calendar App, use Siri to add events, set reminders and use maps. 

4. NOTES APP BASICS
Wednesday, April 4 / 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM 
Forget all those small pieces of paper, lost appointment cards or keeping lists of Books and Movies you can never find. The Notes App is a powerful and easy way to organize the details of your life. 

5. INTERNET SECURITY BASICS
Wednesday, April 18 / 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM 
BC Hydro gave Gluu a grant to create this important class. Learn the first steps to take towards defending yourself against scammers. We will also share some clever (and do-able) ways to manage your passwords.

6. EMAIL BASICS
Wednesday, May 2 / 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM 
In this hour we discuss Trash vs Junk Mail. Learn why you should have more than one email account. And see how to use email safely when on public WiFi.

7. PODCAST BASICS
Wednesday, May 16 / 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM 
Podcasts are an awesome, free form of entertainment. They can be strangely addictive as well, with so much high-quality content out there. In this class, we will discuss what a Podcast is, show you where to find them and share a few faves.

8. TERM Q&A
Wednesday, May 30 / 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM 
We answer the questions you voted-up during the Term. Email or text us your questions and we will create a customized class that shares the answers! There will also be a surprise raffle draw. We can't help ourselves. 🏅

This Series is for experienced users. Class Notes and Support are included. Classes are 1-hour long. We will host a 20 minute Q&A immediately after each class.

Contacts app is the brains of your device. Remove duplicates, add to existing contacts, customize labels & ringtones, master sharing and creating groups.

3. ADVANCED CALENDAR

Super-charge your paper calendar with the Calendar App. Attach locations to calendar events, learn about travel time alerts, notifications, shared events, and shared calendars.

Apps are everywhere, most are free - then why is it so hard to find good ones? We will share our favs, and give you tips for navigating the App Store, using gift cards, downloading apps and, of course, managing them.

6. LET'S GET DIGITAL
Wednesday, May 2 / 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Scanning, cloud storage & digital file organization all got a lot easier this past year. Now might just be the time to start moving your paper to the Cloud and get your digital life organized. We will show you tips and share the apps that will help. (High five to any Olivia Newton-John fans who caught the lame pun.)

7. MAPS & TRAVEL APPS
Wednesday, May 16 / 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Just in time for your summer travels. We will show you how to use the Maps App and get Google Maps Offline for turn-by-turn directions without cell or WiFi. Really! We will also take a look at the most useful travel apps and gizmos to get you ready for summer adventures.

8. TERM Q&A

We wrap up our "school year" with another Q&A. We answer the questions you voted-up during the Term. Email or text us your questions and we will create a customized class that shares the answers! There will also be a surprise raffle draw...🏆

During a fun hour, you will borrow an iPad and follow along as our expert Coaches give you a guided tour of the most popular features of these powerful devices. Thanks to a grant from Service Canada under the New Horizons for Seniors Program we have 16 iPads available for this session.
