PRESIDENT’S REPORT

~Submitted by Maureen Wilson~

I would like to thank all of our members who have supported us over the past year by donating to the Langley School District Foundation scholarship fund, and who have attended our luncheons. My last four years, as president, has been made a lot easier by the support of our executive and I have enjoyed working with them. Sue Mackenzie, our vice president, has been a great shoulder to lean on over the past year. She will be stepping up to the position of president. Wayne Wiebe, our secretary, has kept us all informed of what we say and do at our executive meetings. For some of us, it’s difficult to recall what we did last week, let alone two months ago. Jacquie Hollybow has been our sunshine lady, sending out cards of condolence and encouragement, as well as Christmas cards to our members who are 85 years

plus. Maureen Pepin has done an excellent job working with the Langley School District Foundation, which manages the scholarship fund. She has done this job tirelessly for the past several years.
I appreciate all of the knowledge that
Judy de Vries, has brought to our group as our member support liaison. This position will now be part of the role of the vice-president. Judy has signed on as one of our members-at-large for the next term.

I would also like to thank our members at large, Heather Anderlini, John Salmon and Annette O’Connor who are so willing to help out whenever they are needed. One of the largest, and most time-consuming executive task is handled by George Main. He has done a great job keeping us informed via our website. If you haven’t checked it out yet, please take a minute to do so. You will find it at http://www.langleyrta.ca/

I would like to thank Mary-Jo Hall, our treasurer, who is stepping down from this position after serving as treasurer for many years. Thank you for all of the years of keeping our finances straight. Susan Preast has done a great job as our liaison with the BCRTA, working as our membership chair, keeping the name tags up to day -- a huge job -- as well as informing the BCRTA of any changes that need to be made to our branch’s webpage on the BCRTA website. She has managed to do all of this while vacationing down south during the winter months. The executive will miss her. I would also like to thank Cindy Silen for her excellent work sending out luncheon invitations to our members and keeping track as to who will be attending. She, too, will be stepping down from the executive, and we will miss her smiling face at our executive meetings.

And, although not officially on the executive committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Beverley Anderson who, whenever she is able, takes great photos of the activities at our luncheons. Again, without such a support team, my job as president would not have been as successful.
